Buttnmandl and Kramperllauf – Living Tradition in December

On December 5th and 6th, Berchtesgaden is filled with an ancient custom: the traditional Buttnmandl and KramperllaufThis spectacular spectacle attracts numerous spectators every year, who eagerly follow the "Bassen" as they make their way through the streets. The Buttnmandl-Bass of the German army, which was founded in 1963, is particularly impressive. The Buttnmandl, wrapped in straw, and the wild-furred Kramperl first visit the families at home before gathering in the center of Berchtesgaden for an impressive spectacle.
