Salzburg without a packed timetable
Passages off Getreidegasse lead into other lanes, a square opens around the next corner, and the fortress looks different again from the river. With two days, you can choose a museum, stop for lunch and stay a little longer in a coffeehouse.
The Salzburg Card runs for 48 consecutive hours from its first use. Start on Tuesday at 10:00 and it expires on Thursday at 09:59. Plan your city days together and check the places you want to visit before activating it. You get one entry to each included attraction and repeated use of covered city buses. S-Bahn trains are excluded.
Choose a few places you’ll enjoy
For a first day, combine the old town with Mozart’s Birthplace or the DomQuartier. The next morning, you might choose Haus der Natur, with its aquarium and science centre, then walk across the river towards Mirabell.
In clear weather, the Untersberg cable car offers a different view of how close the city and mountains are. The return trip is included in the card, subject to operations and weather. Your card must still be valid for the journey down.
Give the mountains a day of their own
Keep a separate day for Königssee. Boats to St Bartholomew generally run through winter when weather and ice allow. From the water, the Watzmann’s east face takes on a different scale. The boat fare is separate and isn’t covered by the Salzburg Card.
We’d put the Watzmann Therme on another afternoon, rather than fitting it between museums. One four-hour visit per person is included, without sauna. The baths are about eight minutes from Lampllehen by car.
Breakfast here, then decide where to go
Fresh rolls, homemade jams and spreads, and eggs the way you like them: stay here for breakfast before heading out. Salzburg is about twenty minutes away by car, Berchtesgaden nine. We’re happy to explain where to park for the day you’ve planned.
The package is available in our rooms and chalets. A Classic or Comfort Double Room suits two; the Comfort Family Room has two bedrooms, and the chalets add more space and a kitchen. Arrive any day from 7 January to 21 March 2027, subject to availability, for five nights or longer.
Before you choose your dates
Book directly for breakfast, a welcome drink, a 48-hour Salzburg Card and one four-hour thermal-bath visit per person. Your selected dates and accommodation determine the current total.
